EV Outlook Client is not getting enabled (not even when tried manually!)

Hello All,

We're running EV 12.1 in a FC. We just started enabling archiving for users and out of first 50 users who got archiving enabled, one user doesn't have EV Outlook Client add-in enabled in Outlook. User's mails are getting archived, which I confirmed from EV SSRS reports as well as from the user's Outlook. Following options are already tried.

  • Tried enabling EV Outlook Client Add-in manually. Didn't work.
  • Re-installed EV Outlook Client Add-in. Didn't work.
  • Re-installed the whole office (2013). Didn't work.

Am I missing something?! Any quick resolution?

Thank you

  • Hi there,

I'm assuming the EV Addin appears under the Inactive/Disabled Addins section within Outlook? If so, try the following:

    1. Within Outlook, go to File>Options>Add-ins
    2. On the righthand side, at the bottop, Manage section
    3. Select Disabled Items from the dropdown menu, click Go and then Enable
    4. Then again, from the Manage section, select COM Addins, Go and enable the EV Addin
    5. Restart Outlook and check the results

If the problem persists, please share a client trace for review: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000094823

Thanks Virgil. I didn't realize solution is this simple :manhappy:

I tried enabling before only from COM Addins section, which didn't work.

  • Hello,

after trying the steps mentioned, check  THIS KB Article. This might or might not be an issue from the patch, but worth a check. First verify one of these patches is installed at that specific client, then close Outlook, uninstall the patch, start Outlook, check again. If that does not help, and the client is enabled, you can also try the following:

Logon as someone with admin rights on the pc. Open a CMD, and go to the folder where the EV Client is installed. There is an executable called resetevclient.exe. Run that. then start Outlook, see if that helps.

If that all fails, then indeed a client trace would be handy.
