EV Vaults not reducing in size after emails exported back to Exchange

Client is exporting archived emails back into Exchange.  Export is being done at EV mailbox level using export wizard.  After exporting many hundreds of emails, EV vault stores are not reporting  any reduction in size.  (When using vaultstore report within EV console for Archive vaultstore).    Is this normal?  I believe the option "Remove exported items from archive" is enabled by default when "Export all items" is selected.  And yes, storage expiry has been enabled in EVC.

    Hi

    ‘Export all item’ will not remove items from vault, as a workaround you can select following option.

    ‘Export all items from this root folder path’ = \
    (‘\’ represents the root, you can select appropriate folders & subfolders with option ‘\inbox’)
    Check on ‘Remove exported items from vault’
    Check on ‘export items from subfolders below root’
