EV11 - Can't get "Delete from Vault" button to appear

I have EV11.01 installed on Windows 2008 R2.

I have some Citrix servers with Outlook 2010, and the Outlook add-in installed.

I have configured the desktop policy to show "Delete from Vault" and on the toolbar.

The retention category is not set to prevent user deletion.

When i open Outlook, open the Enterprise Vault tab, there is not an option to delete in the toolbar.

When I go to search, there is still no option to delete.

I have tried creating a WebApp.ini file on the EV server with these settings:

BSDeleteButton=1
ISDeleteButton=1

I have restarted IIS, logged on as a user, and deleted the IE cache, but still I cannot get the option to delete from the vault.

I feel like i am missing something obvious.

Any pointers?

  • Have you seen this:

Delete from Vault button is missing from the Toolbar in Outlook.

    Issue

The button 'Delete from Vault' is missing from the toolbar although the Desktop Policy has been configured to enable it.

    Cause

The Site setting is configured to prevent users from deleting archived items

    Solution

If users should be allowed to delete archived items, then the following will allow deletes and the Delete From Vault button will be on the Toolbar.

1.Go to Site > Properties > Archive Settings and select Users can delete items from their archive.

    2.Synchronize the mailboxes

    3.Close and re-open Outlook.

  • So are you sure you checked the box to allow the users to delete?  If yes, I would run provisioning and then do a mailbox synchronization for just this one mailbox.  Close and reopen Outlook and see what the results are.

I see this in the client log:

    28/01/2015 21:02:47.207[11788][M]: Desktop Setting: USERSCANDELETEITEMS
    28/01/2015 21:02:47.207[11788][M]: Value: 0

  • That definitely looked like my issue, as those checkboxes were not checked, but I have followed the guide and i'm still not getting it.

I checked the event log and the synch job definitely completed already.

I tried the ResetEVClient.exe tool, but that didn't help either.

    Any more ideas?

  • You could set the client tracing to maximum, close and open Outlook then post the log here for use to take a look.

  • I got there!

I definitely had the checkboxes ticked:

    Capture1.PNG

I ran a provisioning task and checked the report. My mailbox was updated.

I then ran a mailbox synchronization for one mailbox, which completed.

I then ran an archive job for that mailbox.

All went well, and I can now see the delete option.

I think it was the "synchronize for just one mailbox" that finally did it for me!

    Thanks
