eVault erweitern

Hi alle,

unser Admin der eVault bei uns eingerichtet hat ist leider für die nächsten Wochen nicht da und ich wollte ein größere Datenmänge von einem Fileserver A auf einen Fileserver B kopieren woebei der Fileserver B nicht im eVault eingerichtet ist.

Ich wollte so vorgehen:

1. Full Backup von (archivierte und nicht archivierte Daten)
2. Restore, dabei sollen die User die mit dem neuen Fileserver arbeiten auch mit archivierten Daten arbeiten können.

Habe mir gerade die Hilfe von Evault 9 engeschaut, so wie ich verstanden habe muss ich den neuen Server auf dem Evault eintragen.

Könnt ihr mir vielleicht helfen den einzutragen, ich meine vielleicht mir sagen an welchen Stellen ich den Server eintragen soll. Die Settings kann ich mir bei anderen Servern anschauen. Ich wollte nur so einen groben Leitfaden haben was ich einrichten muss. Rest finde ich in der Hilfe bzw. kann mir das wie gesagt bei den Settings von anderen Servern übernehmen.

  • ah... As far as I know, you open the EV console. Goto Targets, Rightclick File Servers, New.

    I do advise to contact Symantec on this move. I am not sure about moving (backup/restore) shortcuts, and what effect that may have on the functionality of the shortcuts. I'm a mailarchiving specialist, and have not done much with FSA.

  • Google Translate for the win ...  I would suggest that if you're not familiar with EV.. to wait until next week when your admin is back.  I think the OP said it was a week's vacation?

    I wanted to do this

    Have just read the EV9 help, and what I understand is I need to enter the new server into EV.
    Can you perhaps help me enter this in EV, I mean perhaps tell me where to enter the server.The settings I can check from the other servers.
    I just need a generic guideline what I need to setup/configure.The rest I can find in the help.

     

    I also advise to wait for that admin to return. it is not (as far as I know) a simple backup/restore action.

    sorry but the translation is not correct :-) our admin is not here for next weeks and we don't know how long :-(

    so i have to do that. Im allready know some about ev and working with it, but it was not setuped by me so i don't really know the initial things just from manuel.

    SO I hope you can help me guys to add the new fileserver. I need for for the start only the main steps, the setting are allready done for other fileserver so i can just copy it.

    The moving restore between different fileserver i will check before of course. It not a deal to find out if it works this way.
