Event ID 8390 The EnterpriseVault.DirectoryConnection object reported an error.

Hi Folks,

Running on EV 9.0.1 Win2k3 R2 SQL2005

I am getting a continous error logged in symantec enterprise Vault server archive server ~3 messages per min

  • It may be something to do with a GUID suffix, as I've seen similar where we try to contact the Directory service for the storage server, and can't resolve it/contact it via RPC.

  • SQL server is up and we are able to access archive / store mails to vault / reterive / archive explorer

  • You will need to get a DTRACE of the ArchiveTask. Then do a Run Now and forward it.

    I don't think it's anything to do with SQL. It's probably a shortcut somewhere that has a different EV SITE suffix in the GUID. What happens here is EV will try to use that suffix to look up the Directory Server that controls the storage etc for that archive. If it can't, it will log that error.

    You will probably see DCOM erros (maybe) in the SYSTEM log on the EV server.
