EVPM usage, and PST restores

Hiya,

What can EVPM be used for? I've only previously used it for "zapping" a mailbox, but i'm sure its use can be extended.

What I really want to know is, can I use EVPM to restore entire archives back to someone's mailbox, and therefore script the process?

Also, when choosing to restore an archive to the original mailbox, what happens to items imported from a PST? Are they also exported, or left to export some other way?

Many thanks

Richard

  • Have a look here:

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=DOC2851

    Section "Policy Manager"

Basically, what you can do is:

    - Enable/Disable MBX

    - Import PST/NSF

    - Change archiving policies on different levels

    - Set Permissions on Archives

    - Zap Archives

I guess this is about it.

If you want to bulk-restore archives, or move archives, you may want to have a look at specialized tools, like Archive Shuttle (http://www.evtools.net/products/archive-shuttle) or others.

When you restore an archive to the original mailbox, all data (including the one imported from pst) is exported. (or just the data you choose, but no difference between "pst imported" and "mbx archived" data)

    Cheers
