  • Hi ronald,

Officially, Symantec supports a new SP in about 60 to 90 days.

In previous Excchangversions I have not seen issues with SP's, BUT! you might need to test in a test environment to be sure. Or, wait for certification of Symantec.

  • Probably best for you to log a case with SYMC support to get the official confirmation.

  • *Usually* 60-90 days from the day it is released to the public, but, it all depends on if any 'big' issues are found.

  • In 2 recent engagements involving the deployment of EV 10 for Exchange 2010, we ran into the well known issue of white space problems.  Essentially the Exchange environment is not releasing the space originally occupied by the copy of the messages being archived.

This is a Microsoft issue that is resolved with roll-up hot fix pack 1 or RU1.

Unfortunately, in both cases that I was involved with, Microsoft had done a very good job convincing both clients that they needed to go to SP2 RU1 rather than just deploying RU1.

So far, there doesn't appear to be any technical issues with SP2 for Exchange 2010 BUT, as already mentioned, this SP2 is not yet supported so be very careful.  Just because Microsoft makes a strong recommendation and claims to know what will or won't work with EV - always check the compatibility listing first, or call Symantec technical support.
