Exporting some archives for good. What to do with hidden message etc.

I got some archives which i need to export out of EV 8 sp4 (exchange 2007) for good and into a exchange 2010 server.
The procedure for doing a export with a shortcut deletion is all planned out, but im wondering what to do with the hidden message in the mailboxes.
Should i care about zapping the mailboxes before the export? Are there any risks or problems having the hidden message follow the exported PST files into the new exchange server even though they are never going to be archived again?
The hidden message is in Exchange and not the Archive, so if you Export the Archive the hidden message will not be in there, unless I misunderstand what you are trying to do.
