File server down

Hi All,

Silly question but I am going to ask it anyway. We have a file server that has gone down and is unrecoverable.What would the process be to restore the file server including the archive points to a new file server etc?

    Hi Rdosramos,

    Are you going to be restoring the data to a server with the same name or a different name?

    If you have a backup of the server the ArchivePoints and placeholders should come back with the restore of the data.  This would allow for archived and non-archived data to be recovered.  

    If the data is being restored to different name server then you will have to follow this article to rename the original server in the database tables.  http://www.veritas.com/docs/000010186
