Folder permission inheritance User

Hi,

Scenario:

outlook folder called "private" in.

User A gives read permission on this folder to user B.

The folder gets archived, User B can see the archived item of that folder of user A.

User A deletes the folder from outlook.

Few days later, he found out that user B can still see the "private" folder content on the vault.

he does not have that folder in the outlook anymore, it only exists under his vault,

how can we cancel the permissions on that vaulted folder?

thanks.

  • Ah here it is! not a registry key, its an EVPM!

    1. Create an input file with a ResetArchiveFolderPerm value of 2. The following is an example of the input file. The values should be modified for the EV environment.

    [Directory]
    DirectoryComputerName=EV_Directory_Computer_Name
    SiteName=EV_Site_Name

    [Mailbox]
    DistinguishedName= /o=First Organization/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=user1
    ResetArchiveFolderPerm=2

  • Can he actually open that folder in Archive Explorer and view items or does it just show?

    You could Zap the Archive Permissions in EVPM for the user and then synch the mailboxes.  That should clear it up.

  • Two options
    1. Recreate the folder , change the permissions and then archive an item or synch with permissions
    or 2. apply a reg key, that i can't remember for the life of me, i'll have to get back to you on it

  • Good catch Alex, a bit less intrusive than the zap of archive permissions I suppose.  wink
