Iam facing this issue while creating the vault directory for the first time in a standalone server.
required permission is assigned correctly on both EV server and SQl server.
No events logged on both SQL and EV server

this mostly is due to permissions on SQL. To verify, logon the SQL server using Vault Service Account (can be configured temporarily). Start SQL manager, connect to instance (if used), and see if you can create a database. Name that whendoneremove or something.
if you can do that, verify connectivity between evserver and sql server is not having issues.
make sure to logon to ev server with VSA, run deploymentscanner. Is sql reported ok?
if its not the permissions, have you checked the firewall ports?
Default port of SQL is 1433 (between SQL and EV server)
