How can I configure IMAP without SMTP server

I'm running into a problem with IMAP on the EV server. I am configuring IMAP access to the archives but it is asking for an SMTP server. We do not have an external relay to use. The only external servers that we have are the SMTP servers for our domain. When trying to test with Outlook or a Smartphone it seeems that they require an SMTP server to complete the configuration. What is the best workaround? How should this be configured.
