IMAP Archiving for Internet mail archives

Hello,

In the new features section for EV11 it states: "Enterprise Vault 11 introduces innovative new technology that expands the archiving platform to support end-user archiving for other email platforms such as Google Mail, Office 365". Does this mean it is now possible to have mailbox archiving from cloud mailbox such as Exchange Online?

    Hello rnt123,

    IMAP is not an Archiving feature, IT is more of accessing your existing archive on you Moblie device like SmartPhone or iPad. So you can say it as "IMAP Access"

    the best way to explain this is, Let say for example you have a Exchange Mailbox archive on Enterprise Vault Server and now you want to view the archive on you Smart Phone or iPad.

    Now by configuring IMAP on the EV Server you can create an IMAP profile on your SmartPhone or iPad and you can view,search,copy,move,reply and forward items in your archive.

    Now about Internet Mail

    We have introuduced RAIL extentsion in EV 10.0.4 Version by which our Partners can create a Thridparty application to archive end user data into EV. And the End user data can be on Gmail,Office 365 etc..

    So this Archive is called as Internet Mail which is also supproted by IMAP access.

    So using Office 365 as an example, why would someone want to use Internet Archiving to reduce mailbox size when Microsoft provides 50GB mailboxes? Wouldn't journaling make more sense?

    Hello rnt123,

     

    It depends on the customer which solution they prefer whether they want to ingest their data into EV using RAIL or they want to keep it on cloud.

    If you take an Example like Office 365 then for that we have other flavour of EV called EV.Cloud which customer would prefer instead of using EV on permise.
