Keep search button in Outlook after migrating mailbox to Office 365?
Hi,
We have a case in which a customer has Exchange Onprem & EV Mailbox Archiving with shortcuted items and he is moving to O365. Their intention is removing the shortcuts before moving the mailbox to O365 and thereafter, still get access to their EV archived content through the EVSearch button in Outlook.
Question is: How can we get the search button to show up in Outlook after the mailbox is migrated to Office 365?
We offered IMAP as a way to get access to historical EV archived content, but they have 200 GB archives so not all archived emails would be accessible this way, that´s why the EV Search button is important for us.
Thanks in advance
You should change the policies to only show the search button PRIOR to migration.
While I have never tried it, this whitepaper says that search should still work:
• Search Vaults:
Description:
This option allows users to Search for an archived item in the available vaults\archives for an end user.
This can be done either via Outlook integrated Enterprise Vault Search, or through Enterprise Vault SearchWeb URL via browsers.
Supportability:
The Search button as well as the Enterprise Vault Search functionality will work seamlessly even after
migrating the mailboxes to Office 365.However, often you don't want to keep Enterprise Vault around after migrating Exchange On Premises to Office 365. Office 365 offers "Unlimited Archiving" in the Archive Mailbox, so migrating a 200 GB Archive to Office 365 is possible.
