License Keys file - listing keys more than once?

We have mailbox archiving for 350 users, so our licensing looks like:

MS Exchange Archiving: 100 users x 3
MS Exchange Archiving: 25 users x 2

Should our License Key file contain multiple entries, one for each of the units, for a total of 5 entries for this product?
  • I thought they were sending sku's for each one. I don't deal w/ Keys too much. Instead of support it would be better to contact the sales person or the vendor used or Customer Care, Customer care are the ones that send the keys out, support really isn't involved it the aspect of it.

  • are those all different sku's? If so, you might want to just put those all in there.
  • Well, the 25 user license SKU is different from the 100 user license, but do I list the 25 user item twice and the 100 user license 3 times?

I have an open call to Veritas Licensing on the issue, but I don't know when to expect a response.
  • Just list them by sku. that should cover every thing for you. So you would end up w/ 2 entries for it, one for each SKU.
  • But how does EV know that we have licensing for 350 (100+100+100+25+25) and not for 125 (100+25).

  • Jason,
Technically speaking, as long as the MS Exchange Archiving license keys appear in some capacity (and aren't expired), then mailbox processing will still occur. It's sorta an honor system licensing scheme. So don't worry so much about hte license key file looking "just" right. Now with that said, you're going to want to make sure you're not mixing expired (or corrupted) and unexpired license keys in the same file. You might want to ask your Symantec sales staff for a unified license for the total # of your seats (so that support treats you better), but it's really really really low priority.
