messages missing for specific user exchange mailbox

EV 10.0.4, Exchange 2010 sp3 environment; user moved mailbox folder to different location/subfolder, archived messages in that folder subsequently missing unavailable next day [after archiving process run]; attempted to move folder back to original location and didnt improve matters; ran top-down search on EV server for sample missing message and non found; we do not have "enable recovery of user deleted items" - may not be relevant since msgs not directly deleted per se;

    good question, when user first submitted trouble ticket, they were able to take screenshot of folder contents; individual msgs listed normally but attempts to open msg yielded EV error:

    Could not show this item.

    Try again. If it still fails, contact your help desk.

    The item is no longer in the vault. The system cannot find the file specified

    since that time, when folder moved back to original locatiion, msgs do not show at all

    can you post the screenshot?

    what you can do is open the user's archive from the EV server (if you have EV11 then EV Search, for example) and look for the items

    do you have safety copies enabled on your vault store partitions?
