Messages stuck in the MSMQ queues

Hi,

I've been noticing a problem for the last two days with the queues. Yesterday morning archiving of the journal mailbox got stuck at around 6-7am... eventually I had to purge the MSMQ queues and restart the service after which it worked fine. This morning again I've noticed that archiving has stopped around 6-7am again with 348 items in the a5 queues, 82 items in the a6 queue, and 1769 items in the storage archive queue and has been like that for the last one hour with no change. The j3 queue has only 1 item and if I have a look at it, the message is "Archive Mailbox".

There is one thing, my mailbox archiving schedule is from 5am to 11am. And I've noticed there are no changes in my archives from yesterday, as in nothing extra has been archived though many items are due. Nothing in pending archive either. If I try to archive manually, it stays in pending state. So my guess is one of the mailboxes is causing a problem, which gets the queues stuck due to which my journal mailbox stops archiving as well.

Any suggestions on how to find out what's causing the freeze?

Kind Regards,

Saqib

  • The problem has been finally resolved. As I suspected, it was a corrupt message from one of the mailboxes. Tech Support checked the dtrace and came up with the following solution.

In addition to this, the article I had followed earlier too should be applied along with the above.
