Migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010
Hi
We are in the process of migrating from Exchange 2003 and 2010 and for current environment we are using enterprise vault 9.0.4. Can you tell me what are the steps that i need to perform to make sure users should be able to access his archive E-mails evern though when they are in 2010 server.
Also i need any articles what are the steps that i need to perform to archive the 2010 user E-mails.
- Make sure SynchInMigrationMode is set correctly; http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO58275 This ensures that when mailboxes move from one server to the other, that their archives are associated to the mailbox After that, Create a mailbox for the EV Admin if it doesn't exist already and place it on a target exchange 2010 server Run the Permissions and Throttling PS1 (powershell scripts) on the exchange server as the Exchange Admin targeting the EVAdmin After that, create new system mailboxes on each of your new exchange servers Logged on to the EV server as the evadmin, try to logon to the new system mailboxes and ensure you don't get prompted for authentication After that, add your exchange targets in the VAC which will create your exchange archiving tasks. Move a couple of test users from 2003 to 2010, run provisioning task and then synchronize their mailbox through the exch2010 archiving task, and test their mailbox (archive, restore, view etc) And that's really all there is to it, permissions, throttling, add targets, provision and synchronize It can be more complex with DAG scenarios though https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/enterprise-vault-9-and-exchange-server-2010-new-whitepaper
