No show in ArchiveExplorerUI of archived directories

Hi,
I'm having problems with the Search-function of EV version 7.5. We already have mailarchiving running to our satisfaction, with the search options for every one. We are also able to archive directories, replacing the files with placeholders. But the 1 thing I cannot accomplish is to have the search options for File-Archiving active.
We have licences for searching in archived files items, but the file directories which are archived, do not show in the ArchiveExplorerUI with the security rights of AD.
Users who have rights to see/open the files can "walk" through the Explorer and open the placeholders (files). But when I try through Outlook (Vaults) or through the Internet Explorer URL, they won't see the directory.
However, when i give an user PERMISSION (using the administrator console of EV) on the Archive Properties, he will be able to see the directory in the Search function.
What am i doing wrong? Is it a setting I'm missing, or is there a limit by licences? anyone a suggestion?
Thanks,

Paul
  • Sorry, I was sleeping....
It's knowledge art. 294553, mentioned earlier:
    Solution:
    1. Set the following registry key on all Enterprise Vault computers.
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\KVS\Enterprise Vault\

    DWORD value - SynchroniseFSASharePermissions

    Value Data - 0

    2. Restart all Enterprise Vault services.

    3. Perform a synchronization.

  • Have read of this registry key:

    Location
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
     \SOFTWARE
      \KVS
       \Enterprise Vault
        \FSA
    ExpandLocalGroups
    Content
     DWORD

0 - (Default) Local groups are not expanded

1 - Local groups are expanded

    Description
Controls whether File System Archiving expands local groups when synchronizing permissions. If local groups are used and are not expanded, both Archive Explorer and searches will fail to find items that a user accesses using local group permissions.

  • Hi Tony,
We don't use local groups, we have AD (w2k3) and work according to AGDLP-principal.
The directories are on a Windows file-share. On this share we also have some mount points, which we will try o archive later, if we get tis done.

  • hi,

Perhaps I didn't read the original issue correctly but this sounds like the feature whereby fsa type archives don't show up in archiveexplorerui if it's launched though outlook.  However if you launch it 'stand alone' they are shown.  Could this be it?

I'm not sure it is the issue, since you do state you can't see it via the internet explorer url but just wanted to be sure what you meant by that...
  • Hello guys,

I see the directories now in the search options. The solution was the change in registry, stopping/starting the EV-services and synchronizing the file-archiving.
    Thanks to all,
    regards,

    Paul
  • Could you share with the community what key it was?

That way if someone else has your issue they know what fixed it for you.

    Cheers,
