Not opening archived emails for outlook anywhere users

Hello

i have 2 queries

1) We have notice that none of the outlook anywhere users are not able to open archived emails. Do we need to do any configuration to make this happen?

2) we want to disable EV for one of the top mnagement user. If i use disable mailbox wizard in the admin console will it stop archiving emails from Exchange server? still the EV icons will be available in outlook?

We are using EV 8.0, Exchange 2007 sp1 and outlook 2007/ 2010 clients

    1) You need to configure RPC over HTTP access. There is a section on this in the help files so try there first and ask if you get stuck!

    2. If you disable a mailbox from archiving then no more items will be archived from the mailbox. The user will still see the custom shortcuts and be able to recall items from their archive and they will still see the Search button in Outlook if the policy allows them to see it

    How to restore an archive email from EV after i disable that user mail box. need to right click on short cut and disable for each mail?

    The restore button is not available for disabled users but the user can still restore items from the search results page

    So i need to restore all the emails before disableing mailbox? any way to restore one shot? is there any way to hide the outlook EV shortcuts for one user (after disabling)

    Hi Wayne

    After i export all items it will imeediatly move to restored items folder? because i restored items but cannot see the emails in restored folder but if i do mannully i can see immediatly.

    How can i clean up the shortcuts after i restore? need to delete ?

    Hi akther,

    You can select where to restore the items, I would suggest restoring them to the "Original Location" and not a sub-folder.

    As for deleting shortcuts you can use advanced find in outlook and find all messages with IPM.NOTE.EnterpriseVault.Shortcut.

    If you have a lot of users that this needs to be done for, contact me via private message and I can maybe help you with a script i have to automate the process without using outlook.

    To delete shortcut ihow can i use advanced find to view all the IPM.NOTE.EnterpriseVault.Shortcut emails. I cannot find such options there in advanced find in outlook 2007.

    In Outlook go to Tools -> Instant Search -> Advanced Find and select the Advanced tab
    Click the  Field button and go to All Mail Fields and select Message Class
    For Condition keep it as Contains and for Value type EnterpriseVault and then hit Add To List

    After that at the top hit the Browse button to choose the folders that you want to search, paying close attention to the "Search Subfolders" check box
    then after that just hit Find Now
