Outlook Anywhere EV10.0.3 archived items access access

Hi,

If we setup the following rule in TMG, what (OWA only? Outlook shortcuts?) we should be able to access and how? Do we need any setup from EV Side?

https://mail.myCompany.com/EnterpriseVault/ -> TMG -> http://evServer1.internal.local/EnterpriseVault/

Many Thanks

  • 1. Publish the /EnterpriseVault/ virtual directory the way that you described before
    2. Go to http://mail.yourCompany.com/EnterpriseVault/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp
    3. Ensure that you can get to AE and open items through the published URL
    4. Edit the Desktop Poilicy and set the RPC over HTTP Proxy URL to be http://mail.yourCompany.com/EnterpriseVault/
    5. Set the RPC over HTTP Connection to Use Proxy instead of Direct
    6. Synchronize the Users mailbox through the archiving task
    7. Close Outlook and Re-open
    8. Attempt to open an item through a shortcut

Ideally the last test should be done outside of the network to be absolutely sure
if you keep the RPC Over HTTP Connection to Direct, then the Client will see that it can get to the internal server and just use that address, making it appear that your changes are working when in fact they are not.

Also note that the Hard linked URL's in the message, such as URL's to attachments, or the original item in the banner will not work, because they are hard coded to the EV Server name internally, not the external name

Also if you use HTTPS instead of HTTP then you may need to work to get the SSL certificate to work correctly, for instance if the EV Server is set to respond to evserver and actualMachineName, it will most likely throw an error because its not configured to serve mail.myCompany.com etc

    Thansk again for your help

  • Hi JW, just worndering if you could please suggest something?

All working fine except cannot open item from OWA - externally. It is still going to internal URL.

    Any idea please?

  • BTW, I don't have OWA extension installed. We are using outlook anywhere, do we need OWA extension installed and configured?

    Mnay Thanks
