PST Migration

I am trying to import a PST file into an archive for a user that has left the company.
We do this all the time with no issues.
But today for some reason it has started giving us errors:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Enterprise Vault
Event Category: Migrator Server
Event ID: 6999
Date:  23/12/2009
Time:  11:11:54
User:  N/A
Computer: Server1
Description:
The PST migration failed because mailbox 'Joe Bloggs' has not been provisioned. Check that the mailbox is in a provisioning group, run the provisioning task, and then try the migration again.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://evevent.symantec.com/rosetta/showevent.asp

Anyone got any ideas?

  • You could create a shared archive and import the PST file into the shareed archive.

  • The text pretty much explains it. Run the provisioning task in report mode, and check the provisioning report. Isthe uset in a provisioning group? If not, you should make sure that the user gets there. You probaboy have to enable the AD account to get it provisioned. Cheers Michel

  • I have run the provisioning task but it does not have the users name in it as the account has been removed from AD
Why does the account need to be provisioned? why doesn't it just import the PST file into the archive selected?
  • You could create a shared archive and import the PST file into the shareed archive.

  • Thanks mark,
Yeah i was reading about this but I would like to keep things clean for finding data in future so the desired approach is to input the file into the users existing archive.
  • As you have deleted the AD Account I suggest the same as Mark does - create a shared archive.

I think you need the user in a provisioning group because of the policy assignment. Policies (including PST Migration Policy) are assigned on PG level.

    Cheers
