Questions around new EV 11 search

Hi All

I have just upgraded one of my customers sites to EV 11 and we are looking at the new EV 11 search and how to configure it so that it suits the customers environment. I have 2 questions

  • The customer uses Citrix and hosts Outlook as an application in a Citrix session. This means there is only Outlook and not IE when the users bring up there Citrix session. The users get prompted for authentication when they go the EV 11 search. This is  by design and the solution is to configure EV so that the EV server FQDN is published in Trusted Sites in IE, but how do you do this if there is no IE in a particular Citrix session?
  • We have noticed that when you bring up the new EV 11 search the Favourites view on the left  is not there by default, this is very similar to the Archive Explorer view. You can go to Preferences and tick the Enable side Bar but then the AE view appears. But is there a way to do this through a policy as   going into Preferences in the EV Search for each user individually will be time consuming

Thanks

  • Oops .I said that the other way. By default it is disabled by default

  • 1. If there is no IE the user would be prompted to enter the credentials. When you open EV search on different browser you would need to provide credentails in that case as well.

    2. By Default when you launch Ev search from outlook the Side bar should be enable and if you want to disable it you need to go to preference. At the moment the setting is not controlled by a policy . You may post an idea if you want this feature to be included , but it depends I beleive it would  depend on the number of customer requesting this enhancement.

  • Thanks Rahul

Thats interesting so you are saying the sidebar, the AE view, should be enabled  by default in the new EV 11 search?

If so then this may just have been an issue with the session we were working with at the customer
