reimport pst to existing archive.

Hi,

I have the following problem:

After reciving archive PST's from a third party, which we have imported for our users we discovered that the PST's where corrupt.
The third party used Transvault to create the export PST, but Transvault corrupted all attachements in the exports.

I need a solution to reimport the PST's. Any workable suggestions?

Is there a way to delete/purge an exsiting archive, recreate a archive and import the pst? (infact overwriting the archive)

Pls any suggestions are welcome!!

Thanks.
Using EV9.0.1 and Exchange 2010.

  • Is there anything else that has been archived?  If no, just delete the archive, if you created shortcuts you will need to purge those from the mailbox.

When you imported the PST did you import it under a specific root folder?  If yes, then you can use the export archive wizard.

In the left-hand pane of the Vault Administration Console, right-click the Archives icon. On the shortcut menu, click Export.  As you work through the wizard you will have an option to export all items from a specific folder, you can choose that and then the option to delete from archive.

As for the corruption, you will need to contact the party you got them from and see if they can recreate them.

    Regards,

  • Hi,

If the attachments are corrupt, one possible cause is corrupt source data - but re-importing the PST files will not help if the content in them is corrupt.

We don't have any issues logged at the moment for a project migrating to PST and then re-importing into EV 9 that we are aware of - could you drop me an email at dan.clark@transvault.com and let me know the relevant issue number and project you (or the 3rd party) have open with us?

    Thanks,

    Dan
