Reinstalling Outlook on a EV server

blimey, thats a little over the top, no?
As long as EV Services are stopped, there should be no locked DLL's or anything, but i suppose if you wanted to be thorough.... The only other thing i'd suggest is that if you are looking to do a complete reinstall that you make sure you install the patches for the RecipientMax and AttachmentMax and also the performance hotfix if you are using Outlook 2007

hehe, I agree, a little over the top, but in a life prior to Symantec, that's the steps we ALWAYS followed..  That way we knew the patch/install/reinstall/uninstall isn't/wasn't the cause of any issues.

Actually, outlook needs to be reinstalled because the wrong version were installed ( Professional Version instead of Enterprise).

is that a licensing issue? because functionally they're the exact same

pro/enterprise sounds like an office version difference, not outlook difference. remember, you only need outlook on the EV server and the version (2003 or 2007) will depend on what version of exchange you're archiving from.

Yes it's a licensing issue.
I know there is no difference in functionnality but the client only have on enterprise licence key which is not compatible with an Pro version.

By the way, do you think EV will continue to work when the trial number of launching outlook will be over?

Okay, I understand now why you're doing the uninstall/reinstall.. the ideas and thoughts on that are given above, and perhaps there is a Microsoft article about it?

I don't think we have tested "trial" versions of Outlook and what happens with archiving/retrieval after the trial has expired.

Regardless to rather it works or not, for supportability you need to get it sorted.  If an issue comes up Support will want to be able to open Outlook on the EV server, so better to fix it now than to have it be a distraction later on.
