Server Migration Tool Feedback
I am currently running EV 9.0.1.1073 on a single Windows 2003 32-bit server. I am planning to upgrade to EV 10.0.4 on 2008 R2. and I am looking for feedback on using the EV Server Migration tool. What did you migrate from and to and how did it go. Is the documentation complete or are there some got ya’s that are not accounted for in the documentation.

I have used it a few time to migrate from EV 9 32bit to EV 10 64bit and it has always gone very well.
Just be sure to read the documentation a few times through so you have everything down and plan your work.
Don't forget to backup!
I used to to migrate 10 production EV servers and had no problems. I also echo Tony "backup"...
Ive seen multitude of issues with clusters and wouldn't recommend it for cluster migrations
I have helped many customer with the migration process using EV server migration tool and we had no problems..
Please read the PDF carefully before performing the migration and Take a Full Backup of EV.
In my experience, the documentation for SSMW have steps mentioned correctly, additionally demo videos are also present.

You may wish to try this in your lab environment in order to export /import migration package, just to make yourself confident.
I recently migrated two EV9 servers to EV10 with no issues at all. It all works as documented - no surprises. I was virtualising as part of the same project so a P2V was done as the first stage, no problems - then we went on to do a migration. I thought there must be more to it than there was, and expected issues - but all was fine.

I think it's a great tool, definitely worth investigating, learning to use and utlizing whenever possible.
