Show "Archive Explorer" button in Outlook toolbar after disable an archive

Does anyone know how can I make the "Archive Explorer" button visible in Outlook toolbar after disable an archive mailbox? I realized only the "Search Vault" button left in the toolbar after the archive was disabled, and it can't be controlled by Desktop Policy. I need this cause I want to freeze the archive but still let user able to search and browse email via Archive Explorer. Please advise.

  • Not sure if the registry key will work because the EV Client has been disabled.  If it does, great, but if it doesn't just give them the URL.

You could even create a folder in Outlook and set its homepage to the url, so instead of a button they would click on the folder and still be in Outlook

  • In the standard EV registry guide that comes with the documentation it discusses the registry key below

I'm not sure if this would work when you disable an archive but its worth testing? Also you can always create an IE shortcut on the desktop or a custom folder in Outlook that links the AE url?

In Enterprise Vault 9.0 and later, you can set this registry value in

    more than one location.

See Location of other Outlook Add-Ins registry valueson page 291.

In Enterprise Vault versions before Enterprise Vault 9.0, the registry

    value has the following location:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER

    \SOFTWARE

    \KVS

    \Enterprise Vault

    \Client

    Location

    DWORD

    In Outlook 2003/2007:

0 Neither the menu option nor the button is shown.

1 (Default) The menu option and the button are both shown.

2 The menu option is shown but the button is hidden.

    In Outlook 2010:

0 Neither the option on the More Actions menu nor the button is

    shown.

1 (Default) The button is shown.

2 The menu option is shown.

    Outlook Add-Ins
