split EV finctions
ladies and gents,
I'm running EV 901 (for Xchange 2007). I have 2 servers, one is the EV prod server, the other one is a "stand-by" machine. Both are being updated with identical versions and fixes and are in fact identical and both appear in Console. However, all services on the stand-by are shut down and set to manual.
It has been recommended to us that we split the functions between the servers, eg one will do the mailbox archiving and the other the journal archiving. This sounds like a great idea. However, I'm not sure if it's actually doable.
What would happen to the journal archive's indexes? Will I have to re-build them on the new server?
yes, I have a separate store for Journal. Would that mean the following sequence should be fine:
1. Move indexes to 2nd server
2. Move Journal Store to 2nd server (simple database record alteration)
3. Remove the Journal task from the 1st server
4. Create a new Journal task on the 2nd server
