Suspending Archiving for a specific item

All - Our users want to follow up with email items with a follow up flag which can take longer than our archiving period (90 days) and when the item gets archived (We use no shortcuts - EV 8.03) the followup flag is eliminated in the archive.

Therefore, to manually set an item to not archive in exchange, we are try to follow the below process Suspending archiving for an item

In some circumstances, you may want to prevent Enterprise Vault from archiving
To suspend archiving for an item a particular mailbox item.
1 Open the item by double-clicking it.
2 Do one of the following:
■ If you use Outlook 2003: On the item’s File menu, click Properties.
■ If you use Outlook 2007: Click the Office button in the upper-left corner
of the item, and then click Properties.
3 In the properties dialog box, click the Enterprise Vault tab.
4 Select Do not archive this item.
If this setting is unavailable, your administrator has locked it.
5 Click OK

We use Outlook 2007/exchange 2007 but there is no EV tab under "Properties" for that specific email under the office button. Anyone run into this issue?

TIA
  • The tab is shown via desktop policy and i *think* needs to use the full (DCOM) client and functionality for it to work Also i'm pretty sure you can use the Disable autoarchive on the main properties page (oh and just so you know, you dont have to open the message and do the file -> properties...just highlight the message and hit alt-enter)
  • As a work around , you can create a new folder and move the item to the new folder and  can disable archiving for that folder

  • Rahul - its a great suggestion and we are going to take that into consideration also, depending on user confort level.
