Symantec Enterprise Vault Reporting not working

Hello All,

EV Reporting is not working... This is quite intermittent as it was working before this weekend and not giving a strange error: -
The Report Server Windows service 'ReportServer' is not running. The service must be running to use Report Server. (rsReportServerServiceUnavailable)

Moreover, the SQL Server Reporting Service is also not starting and returning an error: -
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

We are not able to run any reports for that reason...

Please help if you have any reolution to this.

Regards,

GauravAditya

  • As I said, its not an Enterprise Vault issue but a Microsoft Reporting Services issue, so no.. I have not seen this before as most of the other people on here would most probably not have either.
  • This is nothing to do with Enterprise Vault it is a SQL Report Server error,  Can i suggest looking asking Microsoft for help?

  • Since it was working earlier and we havent applied any patches on the server, i dont find a reason for it not working..

Have you ever encountered an error like this...

The scenario is that SQL and EV are installed on the same server.

  • Hi

I suggest you try the microsoft newsgroups/forums.

Is there anything in the eventlog?

    Cheers
  •  Hello Wayne and MichelZ,

I would have totally agreed to you if it had not worked ever. The reason that I am insisting on this is to do something with EV is because i tested that SQL reporting was working before I installed EV on it.

Anyways, I have opened a case with Symantec and will keep everyone posted through this.

Once Symantec Tech Support has tried all, I will open case with MS as well..

Thanks for your help anyways and if you find anything on this please let know.

    Regards,

  • GauravAditys:

Is there anything helpful in the Eventlog?
What happens if you open up "Configure SQL Reporting Services"? Any errors there?

It's really difficult to help without more infos.
It's like: My car is broken. Fix it!    :)

    Cheers
    Michel

  • Reinstalling SQL reporting and reconfiguring EV Reporting resolved the issue...
