The Enterprise Vault Journaling Component is the part of EV that talks to your Journal Mailbox and archives the content of that Journal mailbox into a Vault withing EV and in the process of archiving the emails and their content it also builds a index and deletes the email from the journal mailbox so the only copy remaining is that which is in the Vault.


Discovery accelerator is a tool designed to be used by your companies Legal team. Thy use the tool to search the content of the archive for terms related to legal cases and then store those searches grouped by case name. They have the ability to review the content of the search results and also to export the data found in the search out to it's original format for submission to court or outside counsel. They also have the ability to put the items discovered in each case on "Legal Hold" which basically means the item can not be deleted from the archive until the hold is lifted thus maintain data for as long as the legal case is open
