system mailboxes

Hello Guys,

WE Use ev11.1.5 with exchange 2010 ans only mailbox archiving

I'm right now preparing everything for the exchange 2016 migration.

I just notice something rather troubling while creating system Mailboxes for my new exchange servers.

regarding my  old system mailboxes for exchange 2010 ( all done a too long time ago for me to remember)

- some are not appearing at all in the sql table Exchange Mailbox Entry

-some appear with a mbxarchivestate of 0

-some appear with a mbxarchivestate of 1.

Can any of you explain me what happens here ?

All the mailboxes are appearing in the GAL.

Thank you for your help as I would like to have all the same

Sandrine

  • Hello Sandrine

After you created the new System Mailbox on Exchange 2016, logon to an EV server using the Vault Service Account, create a profile for that same System Mailbox.

    See if it opens.

sometimes replication within Exchange is 'slow' causing the mailboxes to not appear. Are you using DAG's? if necessary, send an email from the VSA mailbox to the system mailbox, so it gets 'activated'. Also (a mailbox gets into the ExchangeMailboxEntry only after provisioning is run. I assume you did, just checking :-)

      Hello Gertjan,

If some of the mailboxes are new ( and it was clear to me they needed a bit of replication time,...) the others are at least one year old. I just can't explain me the difference.

Thanks for taking your time to answer

only thing I can think of is the mailbox is hidden (which you state it is not), or perhaps the account is disabled. Not sure where to look next. You might want to attempt to failover the database to another Exchange server, then failback. Just in case..
