The Best Way to move a Vault Store to another Enterprise Vault server?

Scenario: We have an Enterprise Vault server in Los Angeles. We want to centralize so we want to move the vault stores in LA to our Enterprise Vault server in Chicago. The documentation I've seen involves exporting to PST's and modifying SQL. There has to be a better way.

I am using Enterprise Vault v6.0 SP1.

    Do you mean you have two servers and you are trying to consolidate? Or are you talking about changing the physical location of the dvs files? Do your EV servers share a sql server?

    We want to move the vault store from the storage attached to the SF Enterprise Vault server, to the storage attached to the Chicago Enterprise Vault server. So initially, no, they would not be sharing the same SQL database.

    but are the database for the vault stores on the same sql server? In the Vault Admin console for Chicago can you see the SF vault store? I am trying to find out if you have two separate EV installs or 1 with evserver in two locations.

    Actually, we have not setup the EV server in SF yet. Once we do, after a few months, we are going to want to centralize all of our servers in our Chicago data center. So my question is when we start centralizing, what is the best way to bring that SF vault store to Chicago?

    When we setup the EV server in SF, should we set it to use the existing SQL database currently in use for the Chicago EV server?
