The Web Application is not configured correctly in the Vault Site settings.
Since installing EVS 8.0sp1 on a new server I am getting this error on my Outlook 2003 when clicking Vault Search:
"The Web Application is not configured correctly in the Vault Site settings.
Please contact your Enterprise Vault Administrator."
When I click on Archive Explorer the left-hand pane in Outlook just toggles on or off - it does not load the archive explorer window.
The Store in Archive and Restore from Archive buttons work properly. Double-clicking a sortcut correctly opens the archived item.
The only relevant thing I can see on the Vault Site properties is the Vault site alias and port. I have tested http://alias/enterprisevault/ and http://alias/enterprisevault/ArchiveExplorerUI.asp from the workstation and they both work.
I have tried the only suggestion I could find in this forum - which was to delete the profile and reinstall the Outlook client - but that hasn't helped.
Any other ideas anyone?
TIA,
Carol

- I have fixed it by creating a mailbox for the EVS service account. Note I am not talking about the system mailbox - that existed and I'd done all the mail profile setup on the EVS server - but I found I also had to create a mailbox for the service account.
I find this very weird as I am using the same service account as was used in the PoC, and it didn't have a mailbox then.
I was troubleshooting why welcome emails were not being sent. Trying to send an email from the EVS server (logged in as the service account, using the system mailbox) gave me a permissions error. The only way I could grant the service account the Send As right to the system mailbox was by creating a mailbox for it as well. Once I did that, welcome messages started to work.
And at the same time my Outlook client is now receiving the desktop policy! Search Vaults and Archive Explorer are working.
So - what's going on? Nothing I have read in the doco says that the service account needs a mailbox. And it didn't for the PoC installation. So why does it now?
And yes the service account is an Exchange Administrator and it does have all mailbox permissions to the system mailbox.
