Virtual Vault & Deleting Items / Folders

All,

Using Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP3 on a Windows 2008 SP1 server.

On a Windows XP Client running Office 2003 I have deleted a folder in the Virtual Vault containing a number of archived messages.
The folder is deleted and becomes visible under 'deleted items' with the Virtual Vault. However we cannot empty the 'deleted items' folder.

The deleted items can still be found using the Enterprise Vault search.

Two questions:
1. Why can we not empty the 'deleted items'?
2. Why can we still search and find mail that where deleted?

Regards
Mark
  • So VV_AllowHardDelete is false. Which is why VV will not let you delete.
I cannot understand why this would be if you really have got the settings synced up properly.
Are you definitely making the policy changes to the right policy for this user?
Are you doing a Synchronization from the VAC in the mailbox archiving task properties on this individual "Selected mailbox"?
If you are doing everything correctly then maybe Outlook cache mode is not updating the hidden message that holds the setting - could try changing the Advanced Vault Cache desktop setting "Offline store required" to be No, Sync the settings to the mbx, and then changing the Outlook profile to not use exchange cache mode.
