Want to delete archiving user

Hi Experts,

I have a user with 3 archiving objects in EV and these are appearing in user's Archive folder in outlook. I want to remove the 2 duplicate archive objects and retain only 1 (which is the current as per oldest/youngest archived items).

From the user Archive properties, If i remove the user's name from the "Bill Usage to:" will it be removed from Outlook as Archive folder?

Thanks,

Will

  • You can/should remove the permissions - then have the user right click and REFRESH at the 'top' of Archive Explorer.

    That'll get rid of them.

  • Hi Rob,

    I've attached a screenshots here.

  • So the ones that are marked for deletion will eventually delete, once the storage service has removed all the entries in the archive.

    If you remove the other one that is not used .. that too will eventually be deleted.

    Before you remove them, be sure that you do want to do that, because restoring them is painful.

    Now over to the user. What are they seeing? 3 different archives in Archive Explorer? Or in Virtual Vualt?

  • Thanks Rob.

    User is seeing 3 different archives in Archive Explorer. While waiting for them to be deleted (unused), was it right that i removed the "Bill Usage to:" entry? And will it be removed on the Archive explorer after doing that so that only 1 true archive is kept in the Archive explorer?

    I have tried removing the permission using EVPM but it only removes 1 of the duplicate archive mailbox's permissions. Any suggestion on how to remove the permissions on the other duplicate archive?

  • It's ok now, I have sorted this out. I used the the entries below in the .ini file.

    [ArchivePermissions]
    ArchiveName=17A66283E40740C41A12CA143EB2EFB251110000vault[domainname]
    Zap=True

    instead of

    [ArchivePermissions]
    ArchiveName=Firstname Lastname
    Zap=True

    I will let you know once the issue of my client has been resolved. Thank you for all your assistance.

  • Hi Rob,

    Issue is resolved now after removing the permissions from the 2 duplicate archives. Thanks for the solution you provided.
