  • Hi Beverly,
Glad to see this new forum.  Do you know if there will be beta exams available for people currently holds the VCS certification such as NetBackup 5.x admin certification?
  • Good news!  We just finished exam development and beta delivery for Administration of High Availability Solutions for UNIX using Veritas Cluster Server 5.0.  The final published exam will be available for registration with Prometric March 13th or sooner.

Stay tuned to Symantec Certification March 17th for a newly designed website, including full curriculum paths.  In the meantime, below represents suggested preparation for the VCS 5.0 exam.

Although each product varies in complexity and depth of technical knowledge, all Symantec Certified Specialist certification exams, that target customers in an administrative role, cover core elements measuring technical knowledge against factors such as installation, configuration, product administration, and day-to-day maintenance.

The program consists of the Veritas Cluster Server technical exam at a product/version level that validates that the successful candidate has important knowledge and skills necessary to plan, install, implement, and maintain Veritas Cluster Server 5.0 on a UNIX platform.

To achieve this level of certification, candidates must pass the technical exam and accept the Symantec Certification Agreement.

    Suggested Preparation

Below includes the recommended preparation to achieve this level of expertise.

    ·        Exam Objectives

    ·        Email for a study guide that targets those who have attended the recommended 5 day training course. This self-study guide summarizes the key lessons and topics in the corresponding certification exam.

    ·        Recommended 6 months of hands-on experience working with UNIX clusters, including Veritas Storage Foundation

    ·        Knowledge of UNIX system and network administration

    ·        Recommended Course: “Veritas Cluster Server 5.x for UNIX (5-day)”

    ·        Other Recommended Courses:

    “High Availability Concepts”

    “Storage Virtualization Concepts”

    “Storage Foundation for UNIX”

    “Cluster Server for UNIX”

“High Availability Design and Customization using VCS”

    ·        Recommended prerequisite certification exam:

“Veritas Storage Foundation 5.0 Administration for UNIX” (250-250)

    ·        Product documentation for Veritas Cluster Server 5.0

Note: Be cautioned that, attendance in a training course does not guarantee passage of a certification exam.

  • I have also passed the Endpoint Technical Assesment with 76% marks.

  • hey gud news but will all these cirtifications will be easy to handle with? and what will be the cost for completing one?
