Can I duplicate image on 5200 to tape?
We have two appliances in two domains. We replicate images from the primary to the secondary with AIR, using SLP's. Works fine, except we're running out of space on the target (secondary - our 5200).
So we added a tape library to the 5200. Device is configured fine, can backup directly to it.. We're going to modify the SLP's on the secondary to do a copy to the tape library after the import to the appliances disk pool. All good.
HOWEVER, we would like to get rid of some of the older images with longer retention that had previously been replicated to this device, to clear up space. When I run the catalog search to find the images I'd like to copy "Duplicate" is greyed out.
I'm concerned that's because the appliance is a PureDisk pool - I found some older documentation that says you can't duplicate from a puredisk pool. Is that still the case? Is there a work-around or am I just missing something really easy?
A PureDisk pool should not have any limitation on being able to duplicate to a tape. What documentation have you read that says so?
My first though on possible reason that Duplicate would be greyed out is maximum backup copies (as dicussed on this forum post: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/duplicate-option-disabledgrayed). Could also be you have the wrong Action selected in drop-down? (see https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/manual-duplicate-disk-tape)
This should be something that is otherwise trivial to do and is supported.
