Has anyone tested RMAN incremental backups using the NBU Oracle Agent going to the backup appliance? Do you lose or gain anything with the deduplication? If the RMAN database backup is already compressed of deduplicated, can the appliance deal with this gracefully?

If the database is already compressed, then there will be little to no dedupe. This applies to any backup vendor. There are only very specifc cases in which deduplication of Oracle using RMAN can actually work, and there is a technote specifically from Symantec on this. Search for "Oracle deduplication" in the kb and you'll be greeted with quite a bit of resources.
