Netbackup Appliance support for VLAN Tagging?
Hi, Let me know if you have any information that support this statment.
We are trying to create a BIG (10GbE) pipe (4 Interfaces) conecting the appliance to a cisco NEXUS in a customer data center, the customer has so many VLAN's an they were asking us if we can use VLAN tagging to transport our Backup trafic as well the iSCSI traffic comming from Vmware.
If you have other idea to do that let me know, We are configuring 4 appliances each of them with four (4) 10GbE SFP+ ports,
Thanks,
Gonzalo Gom
Hello,
Yes you can do vlan tagging, but due the fact there is no interface for configuration, this is something that you would need to open a support case for.
NOTE, as per (TECH206780):
Configuring the tag IDs on the interfaces of the 52x0 has been known to cause functionality problems the CLISH menus, web GUI, maintenance/support scripts such as DataCollect, and call home data. The CLISH and web GUI will not allow the configuration of the tag IDs as it's not supported although it is possible to do so through the CLI as on other Linux systems. VLAN tagging is supported on 52x0 appliances under the following conditions:
1. The configuration must be guided by Symantec Technical Support.
2. The appliance must have OS 2.5 or higher installed.
3. The appliance cannot be configured as a master server.
4. Awareness that the issues caused with the GUI, CLISH, and scripts will occur and there will be no workaround to those.
