Storage Reset Permission

We replaced a storage shelf with another one, then reconfigured the appliance from zero to set it up as a media server. When finishing the setup, the appliance doesn’t see the shelf and gives us the following message:

- [Error] Failed to import the storage configuration.

- [Error] A current storage configuration already exists. To setup a new storage configuration, you must first clear the current storage configuration, exit from this configuration session and start a new initial configuration session. If the same error message occurs, contact Symantec Technical Support.

When we accessed the appliance true Putty, to erase the storage configuration, we executed the following:

Support > Storage Reset

And came up with the following error

- [Error] Sh: line 4: /opt/NBUAppliance/scripts/system_restore.pl: Permission denied.

Question: How can we reset the present storage configuration to finish our setup or how can we get the needed permissions ?

  • Thanks Marianne!!! We could resolve the problem... turning off the appliance remove the storage shelf making a factory reset on the appliance run the initial setup and when finish the setup re-attach the storage shelf run the configuration to adding the storage shelf to the appliance and everything run fine.

  • " .... If the same error message occurs, contact Symantec Technical Support." Hope you have done this by now.
