Export to Netbackup - How to restore with Netbackup??

I am currently in the process of evaluating PureDisk 6.5. Everything seems to be going good, and I will probably by implementing this product into our live environment in the coming months.

I have seem to run into a problem in regards to restoring data. I have the Export to Netbackup option working, as far as I can tell, and my first job ran fine with out any problems, according to the Activity Monitor on my Netbackup 6.5 server.

Now I am trying to do a restore using the data that was export to Netbackup but no matter what Policy type I choose, DataStore, MS-Windows-NT, PureDiskExport. I always get the following error messages:

Warning: server (netbackup6.5) does not contain any backups for client (restoresvr) using the specified policy type (DataStore) as requested by client (netbackup6.5)

I know that I am probably missing something simple, but what??

Thanks in advance.

  • Couple of Questions:

    1.  What version of NetBackup are your running on your Master Server, Media Server, PureDisk Export Agent, and Client?

    2.  What MP are each of them at as well?

    The restore processis difficult to understand initially, but once you get it down, you realize it works exactly as you would want it to:

    Server = Master Server

    Source Client = Case SeNsItive Hostname of the ORIGINAL client (as known by the PureDisk Server)

    In other words, if the PD server knows the client as TestClient001.YourCOMPANY.com and you are trying to restore to testclient001 there will not be anything in the database

    Destination Client =  <Restore Destination>

    Policy Type = PureDisk Export

    The other key is that your NBU environment has to be at 6.0 MP6, or 6.5.3 for this to work.

  • Kevin,

    Thank you for responsing, what youhad mentioned about the hosts names solved my problem, once I used the same name in Netbackup as in Puredisk I was able to bring up the information in the Restore window.

    Thanks again
