A Job stuck Waiting for Retry during several days

Hi Guys,
I need your help in the following: I have 2 Jobs stuck 1 month ago with a Job State: Waiting for a Retry, with status 50, and all other fields in blank, one of them has the Detailed Status in blank, and the other job has:
job 239082 was restarted as job 239238
client process aborted(50)

I've tried the workaround described here: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/286119.htm, but there was no "pempersist" file, I've also restarted the server but the jobs can't be cancelled.
I'm using Windows 2003 Standard SP2 as a Master Server, Netbackup 6.5.5

I'll appreciate your help,

Thanks,

Luis V.

we get this periodically. Trying to cancel or deleting the job id does not work.

Before performing these steps, you need to ensure that there no jobs running on the netbackup master server (No backups/duplications/restores/vaulting...etc)

Cancel all jobs from the activity monitor using cancel all option.

Deactivate all staging storage units and SLPs

Stop all Netbackup services BPDOWN -v -f
    Goto <InstallDir>\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\db\jobs
    Rename file bpjobd.act.db to bpjobd.act.db-DD-MMM-YY
Make a copy of bpjobd.db in the same directory.

Restarting the Netbackup services will ensure that the "Waiting-for-retry job" is deleted.

    Good Luck

  • Sounds like it could be a visual thing only. You can check to see if there really is a job attempt trying to run or, when you have some quiet time, you could try to cycle the NBU services on your master and see if that removes these jobs. A daemon may have gotten hung up at some point.
*When I say "cycle" I mean make sure every single NBU process is cancelled & cleared out. A reboot shouldn't be necessary.
