I have Storagetek SL3000 tape library attached to Netbackup as TLD robot. Recently, I added two additional tape drives to the library. Management console of the library detected these drives. Of course, I rebuild sg driver. I see these drives by OS and by tpautoconf -report_disc as new drives. When I try to add drives to Netbackup, new tape drives displayed as standalone drives(no a part of library). How to add this drives to library? What is my mistake?

The robot is not configered correctly, it doesn't itself know about the 2 new drives. As marianne suggests, a reboot of the lirary might resolve, if not, you'll need to speak with the vendor.

Which media server are you adding the drives to:

1. The media server that is also the robot control host

2. Some other separate media server

If 1. Please send scan output from robot control host

If 2. I suspect media server tldd process isn't able to talk to the tldcd proces on the robot control host

Best to completely power cycle the robot and then check 'scan -changer' output again.

Until the robot displays and reports all drives (including the new ones), there is nothing we can do to fix this.

...but as Marianne pointed out... the 'scan -tape' portion of 'scan' can see the drives too, but the 'scan -changer' portion of 'scan' does not.

So, NetBackup knows there are two additional drives, but NetBackup is not being told which robot they belong to. Hence AVR status - i.e. they appear to NetBackup to be standalone drives - because NetBackup is not being told which robot owns them.

You probably need to reboot the library, or find the missing step... which somehow causes the true picture to be reported to NetBackup. This is not a NetBackup issue. NetBackup can't do anything if the library is unable to report to NetBackup that it owns all of the tape drives.
