  • If you install NBU media server software on the client you can configure the NAS Storage as Disk Storage Unit in NBU and select this STU as backup destination in policy for this client. You will need Enterprise Client license for this.

  • what is the NAS storage Device you are using to take the backup?

    if its a pure NAS device I am affried you are not able to do without mounting it.. but it is something like Data domain which can also work as a NAS you can use alternate methods like DDboot

  • Where Marianne says "configure the NAS Storage as Disk Storage Unit", she means... you specify the "UNC path to a share on the NAS" as the target of the "Storage Unit" - so, yes, you do not need to map a drive on the client to point to the share on the NAS.

  • Hi sdo ;

    the Master /media and clients are Unix not windows , so how can i mount UNC as the target of the storage Unix , as the preferred protocol is NFS.

  • This is why it is always useful to state NetBackup version and OS family and version at the start of every post.

    Anyway, I'm not 100% sure you can 'address' an NFS directly from a Storage Unit definition, so... I would expect that you have to export the path from the NAS to the media server (i.e. Enterprise Client) (to root), then NFS mount (as root) the  exported path on the media server (Enterprise Client) - and then you should be able to point the NetBackup Storage Unit to the mounted path.
