Bare Metal Restore SRT Creation

Hi friends.

SRT Creation

  1. Run the following command to start the SRT creation:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bmrsrtadm

  1. When the installation starts, select 1 to create a new SRT.
  2. Provide a name and description of the SRT.
    e.g. TestBMR
  3. Place the RedHat 5.5 DVD in the CD-Rom when prompted and press <Enter>.
  4. Press <Enter> to read the media from /dev/cdrom.
  5. Provide the path to the location of the BMR third party CD (3PPCD) iso file and press <Enter>.
  6. Provide the path to the client installation files. Provide the path to the directory containing the install file.
this should be the netbackup client zip file
  7. Select Yes when prompted to install the client.
  8. Enter the NetBackup server name
  9. Enter the name of the system to be restored with SRT.
  10. At this point, the NetBackup client will be installed in the SRT. When it finishes, press 8 to exit the installation.
  11. The SRT is complete. To create the CD image for that SRT, start the installation by running the following command:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bmrsrtadm

  1. Select 2 to create a CD image SRT.
  2. Provide the name of the SRT previously built and description.
  3. Provide the destination path where the iso will be created.
  4. Copy this to another machine and burn a DVD or something

The SRT CD created after performing the above mentioned steps is not working. I am not able to reboot the server to be restored using the SRT CD created.

Kindly Advice

Thank You

  • Please give all relevant information:

OS (and version) on BMR boot server

OS (and version) of Client that needs to be protected. Can we assume 5.5?

Please tell us which document you are referencing above - the steps for 'Creating a Linux SRT' in the NBU for BMR Admin Guide (link in your other post) are a bit different to the ones in your post.

  • Please confirm the points raised by Marianne above. Also give details about the failure. Is it failing immediately after booting off the ISO media or is it not booting at all? Can you capture client screen?

    Thanks.
