Basic disk & Tape backups......

Master = 6.5.4 hpux 11.11 parisc 4 lto2(s)

Media = 6.5.4 hpux 11.11. parisc  4 lto3(s)

 

Each server has connections to two basic disk(s) [Data Domain] mounted via NFS...

Each connection is using 1 gig-E nic....

I would like to send backups to both the basic disk as well as tape....

I think there are two ways to do this  ::--->

1::  Modify policies to send to both Disk & Tape.  

This appears to use ONLY a mpx of 1.....  I need it to handle mor than one stream per Tape drive..

 

2::  Stage to Disk over night....  Then push to tape during the day....

I've never done this....  And from what little I have read....  Might not be do-a-ble from basic Disk..

If it is do-a-ble....  Then how?

 

Management wants to eventually send everything to disk ONLY...  But for now they want to have

a warm and fuzzy that backups are going to tape as well...

 

Any Suggestions?
