bptestbpcd - EXIT STATUS 25: cannot connect on socket

Hi,

Not a Netbackup expert, but need to deploy/upgrade Netbackup 9.1.0.1 to 10.5.0.1 and validate if Linux/Windows clients are able to backup/restore properly.

Able to deploy a 9.1.0.1 environment (Master, Media and clients) and able to backup and restore some test files.

After validating that I can login to the WebUI and backups/restore work, I then run the upgrade for Master/Media using the 10.5.0.1 installer.

This seems to go well, but when trying to run bpbackup command (the same that works for 9.1.0.1), start to get: EXIT STATUS 25: cannot connect on socket

Tests I did so far attached (for server and client). Sorry for the obfuscation but cannot post real hostnames/IP addresses for security reasons.

Any idea on what might be wrong after the upgrade?

Thank you in advance,

Jay

  • Hi again,

It seems the issue was down to MQBroker not being set after the upgrade. Our team fixed it in this system and it's now working...

    Thanks for your replies Kiyan.

  • Hi,
how did you do the upgrade, was it successful?did it give you any warning /duing upgrade ?
are you facing this issue for all backups or a few of them?
does the catalog backup is working fine ?
try to take a file level backup from master server itself (or media server) does it work ?
I suggest you restart services on master/media and that client (if it is only one client)and see if the backup will be successful .

      Hi Kyian,

Upgrade was succesful. No warnings during the update execution. Issue happens for all backups, Linux and Windows clients.

Haven't tried backing up any files on the server/media server, will try.

Restarted services, but still not working after that.

      Hi again Kiyan,

Just tried backup from master and same issue... think something is missing after the upgrade, not sure if any configuration needs to be done to ensure client connectivity is kept.

        Hi,
what is your master server OS (I assume it is linux)?what is the version of your OS
did you upgrade your master at one shot to 10.5.0.1?
        if it is a linux,
        go to /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies
        run #netbackup start
does all services are showing as started?
when the job is failing?what is it giving (run a catalog backup job)?share the job activity details.
I am thinking some prerequires are missing on your OS (I hope you are on a compatible version as well).
