Can I move data of one media to another media?

We have Veritas NetBackup 7.7.3. I want to move my data available on one media to another media. Let me explain my query in detail.

I have taken backup on tape. I have 3 tapes inserted in the library. Both Media contains 4 Images as below:

Media A:

  • Server1_1233442 (complete data)
  • Server2_1123124 ( Frag1 & Frag 2)

Media B

  • Server2_1123124 (Frag3)
  • Server3_1239262 (complete Image)

Media C:

  • Server_4_762374(complete Image)

I am using LTO6 tapes. Media States and Media Size is as below:

Media A   Full         4.5 TB

Media B   Active    500 GB

Media C   Active    2 TB

In this case Can I move my data which is available only in Media B into Media C? If yes please help me with the process.

  • OK, I see. But you cannot move/copy just one fragment. Only the whole image.

    Rgds,

  • Yes you can duplicate all images from one media to another and then expire the copies on the original media.

It possible via gui or bpduplicate command

      Hello,

I also recommend you to temporarily freeze all media except mediaC in the volume pool so that this media is reliably chosen as target for duplication. After duplication unfreeze them. (you cannot specify certain media as a target for duplication, just volume pool)

      Regards

      Michal

Yes, but in this case two both media will use (Media A and B). i don't want to touch media A.

2nd If i will duplicate backup image, in thaat case it will create new copy of backup id and write data two times which is already available in media A.
