Can NBU 7.5.0.6 backup Lotus domino using lotus notes policy if lotus service is down?

Hi Team we would just want to ask, can NBU 7.5.0.6 backup Lotus domino using lotus notes policy even if lotus-notes service is down?

One of the Lotus-notes server we have is going to be decommissioned and what we want to do is to do a backup before decommissioning it, so our question is can NBU backup the lotus notes using lotus-notes policy even though the lotus-notes service is down but the server is up.

*If you have document or technote about it please post.

Thank you,

  • As wrote in NetBackup 7.5 for Lotus Notes Administrator's Guide, Lotus Notes server software must be installed and operational. In addtion, NetBackup for Lotus Notes works in conjunction with API of Notes so it requires Domino Server being running.

If you want to backup it offline, backup ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES instead. This protect all the files on local drives and system state.

  • As previous guy written.

Any stopped database with the data on filesystem you can backup by filesystem backup. Simple. :-)

  • Hope it will answer your question:

Lotus Notes databases, mailboxes, and transaction logs can be
backed up without taking down the Domino server. This feature
ensures the availability of Lotus Notes services and data during
    the Lotus Notes backup.

  • Not sure about NBU 7.5.0.6 but I did it recently with success on 7.5.0.4  BUT this was on a system with no transaction logging or DAOS enable.   I got the Notes admins to stop all Domino services for the backup that was of type "Lotus Notes".  It was done because the backup was skipping locked filed files.

It will probably not work with transaction logging enable or DAOS.
